My Tío Abuelo

My grand uncle, Fr. Francisco Vizcarra Ruiz, 1883 to 1958, lived and died in Mexico.  He experienced the Mexican Revolution, the Cristero Conflict, and World Wars I and II through the eyes of a rural priest in Mexico.  The following notes tell his story as I have come to learn it.  His story is only one of the thousands of Roman Catholic priests who followed their vocation religiously, making great sacrifices to be faithful servants of the servants of God – that is, their parishioners.  But not many priests have left the legacy bequeathed by Fr. Francisco V. Ruiz to the faithful of Zapotiltic a small mountain town in Southern Jalisco State.

Please read his story in the Notes that follow.
